Wimberly’s Home Furnishing

Challenge
Wimberly’s is a small town, family run home furnishing store in Quinton, Oklahoma that opened in 1971. They needed a fresh new look because their old logo was out of date and failed to represent the authenticity and heritage of their business. The client needed the web and print logos to vibe well with pre-existing truck and roadside signage, as a complete re-brand was not in the budget.

Solution
Given that I had to work around existing branding, I decided on a strong slab serif font to evoke the small town feel. To capture the feeling of family heritage, I created a combination-mark logo, including a graphic icon that works with the type underneath and to the side. Additional icons and a monogram were also included for web and print support.

Results
In the work I did for Wimberly’s Home Furnishing, a bold icon representing the home comfort of a chair is combined with strong typography to great effects. The wordmark conveys stability, authenticity, and a small town vibe. The chair icon expresses warmth, approachability, and a sense of family. Together the two combine into a logo that evokes the feelings that the brand wants to convey: heritage and reliability. The project produced increased brand awareness, more engagement within the community, and higher customer sales conversions.

“All in all, J and I were both very impressed with his work. We were wow’d at every production update we were given as Bjorn was able to capture exactly what J had wanted for their furniture store. The final product was beautiful, easy to use, and overall exceeded our expectations. We most definitely would return to Bjorn at Small Tree Studio, and we would also extend our referral to anyone who may need an amazing graphic artist for their personal or business use.”
